  1. What are Flower Essences?
Flower Essences are not therapeutic drugs but work on the mind, body, emotions and spirit and are obtained by extracting the healing vibrational quality from the most evolved part of the plant - the flowers. They work on an emotional level, harmonizing negative feelings and belief patterns held in the subconscious mind.
  2. How are they prepared?
Flower Essences are prepared by imprinting a flower's healing bio-energy (vibrational frequency) signature onto pure water molecules. The solution is then naturally preserved with the addition of a small amount of grape alcohol. The chosen flowers grow in the wild in an environment free from pollution, roads and electrical power lines. These flowers are collected, without being touched directly by the individual, placed in a bowl of pure water and left in direct sun for several hours. The flowers are then removed from the bowl, using a twig or a leaf from the same plant. The remaining "flower water" is then added to an equal amount of Australian grape alcohol solution and this mixture is referred to as the Mother Tincture. The latter is further diluted to produce the stock concentration. The grape alcohol is added to the Bush Essences as a natural and safe preservative agent. The alcohol content in the recommended dosage is almost infinitesimal.
  3. How do Flower Essences work?
The concept of healing that was shared from such great healers as Hippocrates, Paracelsus and Hahnemann was a simple one. They all believed that good health was a result of physical, emotional, mental as well as spiritual harmony and found that when they treated their patients’ emotional imbalances, their diseases were alleviated.

Disease (dis-ease : not at ease with oneself) itself is a physical manifestation of emotional imbalances. Put quite simply, where the emotions go, the mind and body follow. Yet disease is not something to be feared. Rather, it can be seen as an indication that something in a person’s life is out of balance. Consequently, a disease or illness can be seen in quite a positive light, for it can point the person back towards the right path!

Dr. Richard Gerber, MD and author of the book “Vibrational Medicine”, provides a more scientific description of how Flower Essences may work using basics of quantum physics to explain his hypothesis. When an Essence is ingested or absorbed through the skin, it is initially assimilated into the blood stream and then the nervous systems. There, an electromagnetic current is created by the polarity of the two systems. The Essence then moves directly to the meridians. From the meridians the Flower Essence is amplified out to the chakras and then back again to the physical body. The amplification also magnifies the Life Force potency of the Essence and aids in its assimilation. The Essence reaches the imbalanced parts of the body faster and in a more stable form. The quarts-like crystalline silica structures in the physical body, such as those in the blood stream, the hair and nails, amplify and transmit the healing bio-energies of the Flower Essences to their appropriate sites of action, at the correct frequencies. This whole process is similar to the way radio waves strike a crystal in a radio so that the crystal resonates with the higher frequencies, absorbing them and transforming them into audio frequencies which can be heard by the human ear.

  4. How long have Flower Essences been used?
For thousands of years, Australian Aborigines have used flowers to heal emotional imbalances and physical injuries. Flower Essences were also used in Egypt, India, Asia, Europe and South America. This system of healing was rediscovered and popularized about 70 years ago by Dr. Edward Bach, an English medical doctor, with his use of English flowering plants. Australian Naturopath, Ian White, further developed this method using plants from all over Australia.
  5. Are Australian Bush Flower Essences safe to take?
Flower Essences are completely natural and very gentle. They are perfectly safe, are free from any side-effects and are self-adjusting to the needs of the individual. Occasionally the symptoms for which the person is taking the remedy can become more intense for a day or two. This is part of the healing process and in fact, is called a "healing reaction". It is not a bad sign as it is indicative of the healing will soon follow. In the event of an intense healing reaction, we would recommend that the individual temporary stop the remedy for a day or two, or alternatively take the remedy more frequently, up to 4 or 5 times a day.
  6. Is there an alternative preservative to alcohol?
Alcohol is a natural, safe and extremely effective preservative agent. In addition, the alcohol does not in any way interfere with the healing bio-energies of the flowers, which may not be the case for other forms of harsh, chemical preservatives. As mentioned, the amount of alcohol present in the recommended dosage is infinitesimal. Flower Essences preserved with alcohol have a shelf-life of 3 years whereas Flower Essences prepared with just pure water have shelf-lives of just 2 weeks and best kept in the refrigerator.

However, if you would prefer not to ingest any alcohol for personal reasons, we recommend that you choose our Organic Mist and/or Cream formulations. The flower essences have been incorporated into these exquisite, organic products and may be applied externally to your skin to achieve the same balancing benefits as the Oral Drops and Oral Spray products.
  7. What's the difference between Flower Essence, Herbal extracts, Homeopathy and Essential Oil?
As explained, Flower Essences are produced by imprinting a flower’s unique, healing bio-energy (vibrational frequency) onto a carrier solution. Flower Essences are often used to balance the body’s energy or Life Force, and at an emotional level, thus, bringing about wellbeing in the whole person.

Homeopathic remedies are based on the concept that “like cures like”. They are prepared from plant, mineral or animal sources and then used in very dilute amounts. Indeed, the curative potency of a homeopathic remedy is enhanced by each dilution. Each dilution is shaken vigorously, to energize or potentiate the remedy before further ones are made.  Homoeopathic remedies are easily ante-doted by contact with aromatic substances such as perfume, strong mint- flavoured toothpaste, garlic, coffee and plant volatile oils.

Herbal extracts and tinctures are derived by macerating parts of plants such as the roots, barks and/or leaves in an alcoholic solution for a specified period of time before straining and bottling. Herbal remedies are generally recommended for a specific physical ailment. The plant chemical constituents can be analyzed and measured in the laboratory.

Essential Oils are extracted from the flowers, bark, sap and leaves of plants and are aromatic/scented residues that work via the olfactory senses and limbic system.

  8. What if I selected and took the wrong Bush Flower Essence?
The subtle and gentle energies of the flower essences will address presenting issues only, so, there is no danger of taking the wrong essence. The flower essences are self-adjusting and without any side-effects. If you did not need the benefit of a particular flower essence despite having taken it, then simply nothing would happen.
  9. Can I take Australian Bush Flower Essences when I am currently using other medication?
Yes, absolutely. The Australian Bush Flower Essences can be taken whilst under treatment with any natural and/or pharmaceutical medications, with no negative effects whatsoever.
  10. Can I use Australian Bush Flower Essences for children?
Yes, Australian Bush Flower Essences are effective, drug-free solutions for adults and children alike. In fact, they work more quickly on children as they do not have as many emotional blocks or emotional issues as adults generally do!

We recommend the same dose for children as adults, ie. 7 drops on rising in the morning and another 7 drops before retiring in the evening. If using the Oral Spray, then simply apply 2 sprays in the mouth twice daily.

  11. When would I expect to notice results?
As unique individuals, it is difficult to predict how long it will take before you notice results. Normally, we would recommend using the Australian Bush Flower Essence product for 2 weeks when addressing an emotional issue, and 4 weeks when addressing physical imbalances. If at the end of these time frames the desired result has not been achieved, then we suggest that you repeat the remedy for a similar length of time. Flower Essences, can at times, be very subtle and gentle as they work towards creating emotional and spiritual harmony and the changes can occur so easily and effortlessly that we are not aware of the healing shifts until sometime later. For some people, however, the changes can be profound and instantaneous.
  12. Will food, drink or toothpaste harm the Flower Essences?
Unlike homeopathic remedies, the Australian Bush Flower Essences are not ante-doted by strong aromatic substances such as toothpaste, coffee, garlic or essential oils. However, it is best to wait a few minutes before or after taking the remedy before eating or drinking anything (except water) as well as brushing your teeth.
  13. I suffer from hay fever so could I possibly have an allergic reaction to the Bush Flower Essences?
When the Bush Essences are prepared, the flowers are left in the water just long enough for the bio-energy of the flowers to imprint on the water. The flowers are then removed from the bowl so that no physical properties of the flowers remain in the flower water. When analyzed by chemical laboratories to determine how much physical matter of the flower is present, results show that there is no detectable or insignificant flower parts remaining, which is far too small to cause any physical reaction.
